On the North Wirral shore, the vast expanses of sand make a perfect companion to the big skies that can be seen here. With the midsummer sun setting in the far north-west the reflections of the cloud are picked up in the pools of water left by the falling tide. The silhouette of Hilbre Island can just be seen in this image, standing firm at low water before it is cut-off once again from the mainland by the rising tide.
