Last Light Over Hilbre
To take a photograph of the sunset from Hilbre island, timing and weather are key. As the walk to and from Hilbre must be done when the tide is low, the timing to coincide with sunset is paramount. Midsummer is an ideal time, with the sun setting as far to the north as possible, which also provides enough light to safely walk back across the sands to West Kirby.
The sandstone rocks and the Hilbre Lifeboat station both reflect the elements of Hilbre; the slow changing geology and the quick tempered sea, the natural landscape and the touch of human kind. The view out to Liverpool Bay provides an outstanding backdrop to this local icon.
