The summit of Thurstaston Hill provides an accessible escape from the busy Wirral roads. By walking only a short distance, the countryside envelopes a photographer, and provides fantastic views at every turn.

The variety of plants means that every season has a different colour, texture and scent. In this scene, the rough ice is offset by the golden foliage – winter stems illuminated by the emerging morning sun.
