WIRRAL

Before The Harvest

Running through the centre of the Wirral is a tract of arable land protected by greenbelt status. Nestled in the heart of this area is Thornton Hough. In the late 1800s, William Lever purchased the manor house in Thornton Hough and much of the surrounding village, and set about rebuilding it in very similar style to the village he built from scratch at Port Sunlight.

I’ve found it quite tricky to take a photograph that encompasses Thornton Hough, never being able to find a view that pleased me. One day when I was exploring the area I found this view, and I knew that it was the right location. The view fascinated me so much that I returned on several occasions to make photographs with the crop charting the constantly changing seasons.
